The Phil Stent Award originated in 1992 and is presented annually to an Emergency Physician who has demonstrated dedication to our field, leadership and continuous support for the growth of the Connecticut College of Emergency Physicians. This award allows thecollege to recognize various leaders and provide inspiration for younger generations of emergency physicians in the state of Connecticut.
The award is named for Dr. Phil Stent, one of the pioneers of Emergency Medicine in Connecticut and one of the individuals responsible for the continued development of the specialty of emergency medicine in the state. Dr. Stent was Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at both St. Francis Hospital and the University of Connecticut and went on to become the Medical Director of the Office of Emergency Medical Services.
